2010 Macau Encontro

There will be a Macau Encontro this year on 26 November to 6 December.

The Casa Committee have investigated prices for group travel to Macau for Encontro 2010.
Following is an offer from Helen Wong Travel (HWT) for airfare and hotel accommodation, inclusive of transfer costs from HK to Macau and transfer to the hotel. The Committee is available for consultation but members, who are interested in taking up the offer, should make their bookings with HWT direct. Members should note that they are free to make their own travel arrangements.

Casa AGM 2009

Casa de Macau Australia AGM - set down for Saturday 19th September 2009
Venue: MCC - 244 Unwins Bridge Road, Sydnenham, Sydney

Casa’s 15th Annual General Meeting is set down for Saturday 19th September 2009 commencing at 10am. Attendees welcome to stay back and join both the outgoing and incoming Committee members for a Cha Gordo, after midday, at no charge.

Sunday Munch at MCC 2009

To encourage more social interaction we plan to hold some casual lunches at the MCC monthly. Come and enjoy delicious Macanese food, play a little social mahjong or bingo, and catch up with old friends.

Macanese Cooking Demonstrations

Our Gastronomia correspondent, Yvonne Husband is planning two cooking demonstrations at the MCC (depending on sufficient interest).

Official opening of the Macanese Cultural Centre (MCC) is set down for May 16th, 2009.
Note this date in your calendar.
Formal Program: 2 - 4pm by "private invitation only"
Member Program: 4pm onwards - all members welcome to attend.

Tour of Portugal and Spain - October 2009

Casa de Macau is proposing to organise a tour of Portugal and Spain in October 2009. The plan is to have 3 options for this trip, a) Portugal only b) Spain only and c) both Portugal and Spain.

INVITATION TO SISTER CASAS TO JOIN US!
There has been some interest from Sister Casas around the world about our plans for a trip to Portugal (for 10 days) and Spain (for 6 days) in October 2009. We welcome any Casa members who may be interested to travel with us - as we visit our country of origin to Portugal and as an additional side trip onto Spain.

So far approx. 20 of our members have registered; which still falls short for a busload of 40. It would be disappointing to cancel this trip due to low numbers.

2009 Youth Encontro Update - July 19-25

YOUTH ENCONTRO PARTICIPANTS

The Youth Encontro Selection Committee (Y. Herrero, M Gutierrez, E Rozario, M Callaghan, B Chavez, R. Fernandes) received 7 Expressions of Interest (EOIs) from: Rebecca Akouri (NSW); Melinda Deacon (NSW); Noella dos Santos (VIC); Carla de Menezes Ribeiro (ACT), Patricia Reid (NZ), Katherine da Silva (SA), Michelle Guly (SA). After much due consideration there was agreement on the following 3 successful candidates chosen to represent our Casa at the Youth Encontro in Macau (July 18th to 25th):
• Carla de Menezes Ribeiro (ACT)
• Patricia Rigby (NZ)
• Katherine da Silva (SA)

Airfares and accommodation are covered by Macau Youth Organisers for 3 representatives from each Casa. Joining will be Sylvie Narcisco Ribeiro (NSW) as a self paid participant. The Committee wish to thank the other candidates for their time and interest and wish the successful participants a productive and fruitful gathering in Macau. The Committee looks forward to their report upon safe return.
